Reading Schemes
The children learn to read in guided reading groups using Read Write Inc. phonics.
In years R, 1 and 2, books are sent home in a book bag and the children are encouraged to share these books daily, at home with a parent/carer.
In years 3, 4, 5 & 6 children can choose books from the class libraries or bring in their own books to read in school. All KS2 children have dedicated quiet reading times every week. Children are also encouraged to read at home with a parent/carer.
We have a team of volunteer reading counsellors who come in to school to read with the children. All children are assigned a reading counsellor who reads with them once a week.
